PJ and a Movie Party

The students have earned 200 stars as a class for showing good character.  They voted and we have decided to have a PJ and movie party.  It will be this Thursday.  A note will come home on Tuesday with more information.

Book Orders

I sent home another book order today for December.  If you are interested in ordering books and would like them to be a surprise or a gift for the holidays, please let me know.  You can email me and let me know.  I would be happy to put them in the office for you and email you when they arrive, instead of sending them home with your child, so that you can pick them up.

Unit Two Spelling

Every five weeks we will have a spelling unit test and the Unit 2 Spelling test is this Friday
.  A review list was sent home today in class.  They will not be tested on all the words.  It will be a multiple choice assessment.  You can help your child by reviewing the words that your child finds the most challenging each night.  You can break them up to review a few at a time.  The test is Friday.  Please let me know if  you have any questions.

Parent Teacher Conferences

I am so excited to meet with all of you at conferences!  I have so many things to share with you about your child's progress.  Please check out our hallway display while you are here!  The students researched various biomes in small groups.  They learned about various animal adaptations to various environments and then created their own animal.  They had to develop an animal that included adaptations to help it survive the environment of the biome he or she researched.  The students were extremely creative.  Don't forget to check them out!

Author Visit- Ethan Long

We had a wonderful time with Ethan Long today!  He was extremely engaging.  He helped us learn about how to brainstorm and develop a story.  He also shared a new book that he is in the process of publishing.  I know that the students are really going to enjoy Writer's Workshop even more now that they have so many other ideas about what they want to write about!

Officer Veenstra

Officer Veenstra came to our class today.  He talked with us about the importance of internet safety.  We talked about being careful with passwords and photographs online.  We also talked about bullying and what to do f you feel like someone is bullying you.  Officer Veenstra also talked to us about stranger safety.  Thank you, Mr. Veentra for helping the class learn these valuable lessons.

Owl Pellet Dissection

We had a great time today dissecting our owl pellets.  The class did a wonderful job taking apart the pellet and finding the bones inside.  Many of your children left today really excited to share what we leaned when they get home.  A special thank you to our photographers, Anthony and Olivia.  Here are some pictures of the experiment.
