Science Videos

The students created their own questions and designed their own experiments this week during our magnetism exploration.  Look at the videos they created to help explain what they learned.

Magic with Magnets

Yesterday, we learned that magnets can attract magnetic objects through paper, fabric, etc and does need to touch the magnetic material.  Today we had an index card challenge.  Each team tried to figure out how many index cards they could get their magnet to still attract the paper clip on the other side.

Here is one group during the experimentation process:

Math Videos

In Unit 9, we learned a lot of valuable ways to multiply.  Today in class the students created their own problems and videos to explain the various methods we have learned.

Planet Videos

We created planet videos.  The students researched different planets in small groups and then had to create a video to explain why their planet was unique.  Here are their videos that worked so hard on:

PARCC Testing

Next week we will begin PARCC testing.  The times are listed on the side of my blog under Upcoming Events in case you need the dates and times again.  You can help your child by ensuring he/she gets plenty of rest and a healthy breakfast in the morning.

Crazy Science on Crazy Hair Day

We had a wonderful time designing our own experiments today to answer a question about gravity.  Students had to design an experiment to explore one of the following questions:

Do all things fall to the ground?

Can I find anything that will not fall to the ground?

Does gravity work the same way on the objects?

Here are some pictures and video of what they learned.

Are you planning to participate in the Just Move It Challenge on April 16th?  If you are participating, just let me know.  We are having the students who are planning to participate put their handprint on a poster in the Commons.  If you are participating, I will see you there!
