Multiplication and Division

We are now reaching the point in Unit 6 where we are discussing the relationship between multiplication and division.  They have learned multiple ways to help them solve a division problem.  You can help your child by playing multiplication and division games with them over the break.  We will be taking the Unit 6 test on the Friday we return and this can really help them with their accuracy.

Trimester Folder

Hi, Everyone!

I cannot believe that the first trimester has come to a close!  Your child has their first trimester folder for you to view in their backpacks.  Please look it over and then send it back to school signed.  Please keep all the materials inside.  We keep them at school to help us reflect on our growth.  You will receive them back at the end of the year.  Have a great break!

Cardboard Challenge

Just a reminder to please send in cardboard after break.  We will be collecting it the week after Thanksgiving.  Thanks!

Weather Instruments

In small groups, the class each learned about a severe type of weather and created a video to teacher others how to stay safe during their specific type of weather condition.  Stay tuned!  They should be up shortly on the LMC website.  I challenged students to create a new device to help with their specific type of severe weather and then we built our designs.  They had a wonderful time being creative and sharing their scientific knowledge.

Echos Here, Echos There, Echos are Coming From Everywhere!

We got a couple more Echos this week.

Isabelle's Echo came back from New York City, NY.  She visited a family friend, Jennifer.  While there, she learned all about the great melting pot.  She got to eat all sorts of cuisines of food and got to go to Time Square and Broadway!

Cardboard Challenge

There was a note today in your child's Friday Folder about the Cardboard Challenge that is coming up.  We will be collecting cardboard for our projects.  Please send boxes to school (none that have contained food) on the Monday and Tuesday after Thanksgiving.  Thank you so much for considering donating.  It takes a lot of cardboard to help them build and develop their ideas.

Here Come More Echos!

Several Echos returned from their adventures this week.

A.J.'s Echo came from West Valley, New York, a rural community outside of Buffalo, New York.  He had a wonderful time visiting his cousins there.  It is a town with no stoplights.  Echo had never been somewhere so rural before!  He had a wonderful time learning about building wind farms and even got to drive a bulldozer while he was there!

Jason's Echo came back from beautiful Union, South Carolina.  Echo went to visit Jason's Aunt Julia in rural South Carolina.  Another visit to a small town!  Echo got to know Augie, Julia's service dog.  Echo also got to go over a bridge and go visit a large city, Charleston.  He went with Aunt Julia to a hospital where he got to play the piano.

Izabela's Echo came back from warm and sunny Ft. Myer's Florida.  She had a wonderful time laying out in the sun and seeing and swimming in the ocean.  It was so warm, she went to the pool and a splash pad to cool off.  She even clibmed a palm tree!

I can't wait to hear from more of our Echos out there.  If your child has not received their Echo back, you may want to check in with the person who you sent it to.  Our goal is to get them all back before January.
