Personalized Learning Research
Your child has been conducting research on their own topics of interest in class. They have been hard at work. Most of the students have finished their research on their initial topic and are working on a project to teach others what they have learned. Stay tuned! They will be posted soon!

Reader of the Day
Starting next week, each day a different student will post what they are reading in class. It will contain a short video of a child reading a passage from a text that they are reading in class. They will also post their reading on their own personal blog as well. Keep checking our blog to see when your child is reader of the day!
Progress Reports
Progress reports went home in your child's backpack today. I sent an email out today with additional information about what else is in their folders. Please look everything over and let me know if you have any questions.
Illinois
We have been learning about our wonderful state Illinois. We have learned about the land and the Native Americans who once lived here. We also have learned about Abraham Lincoln and why he was such a memorable President. We also learned about the branches of the Illinois government. We will be taking our test next week and will also be doing some research about Illinois and creating a quilt. Your child selected a topic to research next week in class.
Unit 7 in Math Videos
In Unit 7 math, we have been learning about more complex multiplication. Here are two videos that can help your child review some of the concepts we have been learning in class and help them review for the test we have on Friday. Have a great weekend!

Personalized Learning
For most of the year, your child has been creating I wonder questions. Now your child is conducting research on one of their questions. We have spent this week learning about our topics and trying to answer our questions. How can you help? We are looking for experts. If you know of anyone who could help our class answer their questions, we would appreciate your help. Maybe you have a friend who is an astronomer, or maybe even you could help some of our students answer their questions. If you know of anyone who can help, just email me and let me know. The questions your child and other are researching are:
Why are cheetahs endangered?
Why are sloths endangered?
Why are gorillas endangered?
Why do stars die?
How do chameleons scales
change?
How do we speak?
How do you become a soccer
announcer?
How do you do certain tricks
in gymnastics?
Why can birds be on power
lines?
Why did Atlantis sink?
How do diamonds form?
Why are snails harmful?
Why is Pluto no longer a
planet?
Why are some bears
endangered?
Can sound break glass?
How do you make your own
light?
Did the Titanic really have a
curse?
Why are lemons sour?
The West Region
The students should be studying the west region states, their locations and capitals. We will taking the test after break, so keep practicing at home!

Partner Feedback
We have been working in class on the concept of partner feedback. We have been talking about how good feedback can help you fine tune your work and improve your learning. This week, the students provide partner feedback on each other's final writing pieces. It was a great way to talk about the text we have read as a class and help them improve their work.
