Weather Research

Students have been working on their extreme weather research in the LMC! They have been working in small groups to learn more about droughts, hurricanes, tornadoes, blizzards, and floods. In class, students worked on interpreting weather graphs. They also analyzed various weather forecasts! They will be video taping their reports and I will be sharing the video link with you soon!

Special Visitors

 Hannah's family came to share a couple Halloween stories to celebrate her birthday.  We read How to Catch a Monster and A Halloween Scare in Illinois.  We had a wonderful time meeting her little brother.

Monsterplication

This week, students revisited multiplication.  Each student chose a multiplication fact and identified various ways to solve the problem.  Students completed an array, repeated addition, skip counting and drew a picture to show their thinking.  Then they used their fact to create an array for their monster.

Chapter 3 Math

In Chapter 3, we will be learning about subtraction of larger numbers.  Your child will be subtracting without regrouping and with regrouping.  Here are some helpful videos:

Camp Applebaum

The class earned our very first class reward and they chose Camp Applebaum.  We spent the day at camp.  We tented our classroom and sat around the fire and read stories together.  We had a wonderful time.  I can't wait to see what they will choose for their next class reward.
